traveled with deegan and ashton to see logan in denver on june 24th and 25th (logans birthday june 27th- happy bd!) then went on to cool camp in rocks..medicine bow sp high plains, wy, then to the tetons for 3 days, signal mt camp 2 more days, then to yellowstone for 2 weeks.

spriit lake, wisc ( devils lake sp)

visited pam and traveled to the nearby state park. hiked the hills in devils lake sp. indians called the area spirit lake, but white people didnt know how to translate spirit, so they called it devils lake. it doesnt fit at all. i will always refer to the place as spirit lake, and i hope the people of wisconsin one day deciede that it is the more fitting name for the place. beautiful hills surround a peaceful lake.

took the ferry to beachside town on the gulf. after katrina 90% of buildings are gone. only cement pads remain. a few trucks, boats, sheds tipped over in roadside fields. most of debris gone, but no new houses, or a few. lots of trael trailers sitting near slabs that were homes. one carb shack on beach is rebuilt and serving..

sam houston state park, loiusiana

lake charles louisiana. warm sunny 5 inches of rain in 2 days. next 14 days forecast is for sunshine and temperatures in mid 70s to mid 80s. low humidity, cool nights in 50s. lots of hiking trails in the state park. most are 1-3 miles long. shaded, run next to river or ponds. lots of birds, great blue heron, green heron , white egret, cardinals, hummingbirds, bluebirds, bluejays, ducks...snakes, water and land. squirrels, deer...

village creek state park, texas

south east texas. nice park. sites are private, park is not busy. good, warm showers, no laundry, but town is close. $17/night, $2 for state park entry.

jasper, texas

road side full of flowers in full bloom. green trees with all leaves open. beautiful countryside! got lost between interstate roads 96 and 69. big thicket preserve. hiking trails allow dogs on leash.

rainy, cold. high 40's. dogwoods in blossom. forsythia in bloom. daffodils blooming. woods are full of magnolias, no blooms yet.
